Legacies of Slavery in Dublin Walking Tour

About:
This walking tour will plot a trail through Dublin city that highlights some of the histories of slave-ownership in the city. Drawing primarily on research from University College London's Legacies of British Slavery database, this walking tour will profile a range of Dubliners - from investors and philanthropists to widows and profiteers - who participated in slave ownership in the Caribbean between the years 1763 and 1833. In doing so, this walking tour will show both physical and ephemeral legacies of slave-ownership and wealth-building that continue to shape Dublin today through our infrastructures and built heritage.
Tour guide:
Maeve O'Brien is a white Irish woman from Co. Tyrone who believes that white Irish people have a responsibility to acknowledge the often enthusiastic complicity of white Irish people in slave-owning and colonialism across the globe. Maeve has a strong research background - holding a PhD in English Literature - and she works in cultural heritage in Dublin city.
Sorry we won't be able to join! Will be in Dublin a week hence--just missed!
This sounds fascinating Maeve. I'm hoping to come along. Would it be OK to confirm closer to the time?
