what women already knew about telehealth
an article that led me down a rabbit-hole looking at the recent who toolkit for accessible telehealth services, which then led me to thinking about how since october 2021, the ni dept of health has refused to fund a central access point telehealth system for abortion in the north. this service is being run by bpas at a cost to themselves and there are anecdotally some difficulties here - especially emotionally. some abortion-seekers in ni feel stigmatised and uncomfortable speaking to british voices on the other side of the telephone line. it is also sometimes felt that the stress and impact of having decades of no access to to abortion isn't empathetically understood by british folks on the other side of the telephone.

interview with nicolas guillou, le monde
on being sanctioned by the united states - "the sanctions affect all aspects of my daily life. they prohibit any american individual or legal entity, any person or company, including their overseas subsidiaries, from providing me with services. all my accounts with american companies, such as amazon, airbnb, paypal and others, have been closed. for example, i booked a hotel in france through expedia, and a few hours later, the company sent me an email canceling the reservation, citing the sanctions. in practice, you can no longer shop online because you do not know if the packaging your product comes in is american. being under sanctions is like being sent back to the 1990s."

what women already knew about telehealth
an article looking at how much of the middle east and africa have embedded telehealth into their workflows - out of necessity. rather than just being seen as a western 'convenience,' telehealth offers a more immediate community and pharmacy-led pathway and arguably removes some paternalistic medical notions of control of patients.

gaza reveals how britain is run, and why we must change it
this article explains the failure of uk government to uphold human rights, to uphold international law (including “special immunity” for israeli leaders to visit britain), to decline to hold mp's accountable for their complicity in israeli genocide; for the refusal to respond to public pressures and the clampdown on civil liberties regarding the criminalisation of palestine action and their supporters, as well as excessive government secrecy. "britain has all the fancy trimmings of democracy but little of the real practice of it. uk foreign policy is in reality made by an elite few and routinely doesn’t promote the national public interest or real national security."
